Brief Biography

Dr. Rea Raus has graduated from Tampere University, Finland (PhD in teacher education in the context of sustainable development) and Tallinn University, Estonia (MA in pedagogical counselling). R. Raus is currently studying the principles of sustainability and is a practising teacher and facilitator. She is involved in curriculum development, courses in sustainable economy, etc.

Prof. Van Man Isabel Tchiang

University of Saint Joseph, Macao

 Topic: Building Teacher AI Literacy: Professional Development Frameworks and Challenges for Macau's Educators in the Digital Age

Brief Biography

Prof. Isabel Tchiang is Dean of the School of Education, Associate Professor, and Director of the Teacher Professional Development Centre at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ). She holds a Doctorate and Master's in Education, both with Magna Cum Laude honours 
from the Inter-University Institute of Macau (now USJ), and a B.Sc. in Biology from SUNY Brockport. With over two decades in education, Dr Tchiang's career spans secondary teaching, government service, and higher education leadership since 2013. Her research addresses education policy, teacher behaviour, inclusive education, and AI in learning. She leads Macau's only trilingual teacher-training program and fosters cross-institutional collaborations to advance educational excellence.

 Contribution to Current Job Profile

As Dean and Centre Director, Prof. Tchiang drives strategic growth of USJ's School of Education and Teacher Professional Development Centre. She spearheads curriculum innovation, interdisciplinary research, and cross-institutional partnerships with universities in Hong Kong, mainland China, Portugal, and Canada. She launched the "Innovative Teaching Lab" and secured cross-border practicum placements in Hengqin. Her leadership promotes inclusive education, special needs support, and AI integration, while strengthening ties with local schools and government bodies. She also oversees quality assurance and faculty development.

Roles and Responsibilities 

Prof. Tchiang oversees academic administration as Dean, including curriculum development, faculty management, and quality assurance across Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral programmes. She directs the Teacher Professional Development Centre, designing and delivering professional training for in-service and pre-service educators. She supervises Master's and Doctoral research, teaches graduate and undergraduate modules, and serves on multiple university committees. She also coordinates partnerships with schools, government agencies, and international institutions, represents USJ on external advisory boards, and organises academic conferences and public lectures.

Topic: From Rubric to Review: A Human-in-the-Loop AI Assignment Marker

Brief Biography

Dr. Harold Mayaba is a New Zealand-based applied economist, university lecturer, AI systems strategist and international speaker. He holds a PhD in Applied Economics from Lincoln University and serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at Rusangu University. His work combines teaching, research, consumer behaviour and practical artificial intelligence to improve decision-making and learning. Dr. Mayaba designed a human-in-the-loop, rubric-grounded AI assignment-marking system that supports criterion-level assessment while preserving lecturer oversight. Known as “The Lion Hugger,” he speaks internationally on education, AI, purpose and resilience, helping educators and organisations adopt technology responsibly without surrendering fairness, transparency, academic judgement or essential human connection.

In my current professional work, I combine consulting, leadership, and speaking to help individuals, businesses, and communities unlock opportunities and achieve meaningful growth. Through H|M Agri-Food Consulting & Speaking, I provide guidance in agribusiness strategy, market research, consumer behaviour, and diaspora investment. My contribution lies in bringing together practical business insight, research-based decision-making, and transformational leadership to create solutions that are both impactful and sustainable.

My roles and responsibilities include leading business strategy and development for both H|M Agri-Food Consulting & Speaking and TRADEit Zambia. I conduct market research, advise clients on agribusiness and investment opportunities, design growth strategies, and support business development initiatives. I also serve as a speaker and coach, delivering talks and mentorship on purpose, hope, resilience, leadership, and personal growth. In addition, I build partnerships, manage client relationships, represent my businesses professionally, and ensure that all projects align with the vision of creating value, transformation, and long-term impact.
